Timber preservation

Many older buildings – and some more modern ones that were not well constructed – have a range of problems caused by fungal decay and insect infestation.

Our team of Certificated Surveyors in Remedial Treatment (CSRT) can identify the precise cause (which is not always immediately clear) and our specialist personnel are able to deal with the problem and provide a long-term solution.

Our team are highly experienced in delivering the following services to both public and private sector clients:

Rot eradication

We have developed an exceptional range of skills in the complex and often delicate work of eradicating rot in older buildings.

Timber preservation

Identifying and resolving issues caused by dampness such as mould and fungal decay (wet rot and dry rot). We can also deal with the root cause, such as condensation and poor ventilation.

Insect infestation

Commonly called woodworm, problematic infestation can be caused by the larvae of different types of beetle. It is, however, important to identify the problem correctly and have it treated to prevent further damage.

Rising damp: this happens when there is either no damp-proof course (DPC), or the existing course has been damaged. It is often misdiagnosed, and an inspection for building defects, by a qualified CSRT, should be carried out before any remedial works are proposed. Correct after-works (e.g. repairing damaged plasterwork) is essential.

City Gate Construction

We have highly skilled builders, machine operators, maintenance engineers, joiners, painters and metalworkers. This enables us to handle every kind of building work from large-scale refurbishment to purpose-designed joinery.
