It's our community and we care about it
Being part of our community is important to CGC, but we also try to help others who are less able to care for themselves – for whatever reason.
Cash for Kids helps disadvantaged children in Glasgow and the West of Scotland to lead a fuller life and achieve their own potential, and we support the charity in various ways. A couple of years ago, our directors took part in Radio Clyde’s on-air sports auction supporting the charity, and bid for a VIP weekend in London for two, including a trip to the Champion’s League Final at Wembley. Ronnie McDowell won the prize and immediately donated it to another charity auction. This was in support of another of our charities, Calum’s Cabin, which is a luxury countryside retreat where families with children suffering from terminal cancer can take a peaceful break. This time the prize was won by the man who came second in the on-air original auction, thus doubling the amount of money raised!
Sky Blue Nursery School, in Gambia, provides education for younger children and gives them a solid start in life: because, as they say here, with an education, “The sky is the limit.” We’ve been supporting the school for a while, and when our Managing Director Leo Reilly and his wife visited last year, they took with them clothes for the kids, and a large donation that helped the school pay their rent. The head teacher and the children regularly send updates to CGC, and we are really pleased to be helping with their progress.
